  • Founder of Talmuk
  • Former Commercial Director of Al Barji International

Talal Hasan is the Founder and Carbon General of the 2022 Earthshot Prize Winning project 44.01. The project won the Fix Our Climate category for its ground-breaking CO2 removal process, which essentially replicates a natural process that mineralises CO2 in peridotite. Talal’s process rapidly accelerates the natural process, which would usually take many years, by pumping carbonated water into seams of peridotite deep underground, to remove CO2 forever.

The ambitious green technology entrepreneur aims to mineralise 1000 tonnes of locally captured CO2 every year by 2024 and is looking to scale this revolutionary process internationally for the mineralisation of 1bn tonnes of CO2 by 2040. When booked as a speaker, Talal can delve into this cutting-edge process and the long-term implications it has on global warming.

A graduate of the Queen Mary University of London, Talal studied French and Business Management before going on to earn a diploma in Law at the University of Law in 2006 and an LPC and LLB in Banking, Corporate, Finance, M&A and Securities Law in 2007. Talal began his entrepreneurial journey alongside his studies by Founding Talmuk, an online property management platform in 2005. He then began working as a Solicitor for Gateley in 2007 and joined Al Busaidy Mansoor Jamal & Co as an Associate in 2011.

Soon after, Talal became Commercial Director at Al Barji International before joining OQ, the Oman Oil Company as an Associate in 2014. This was followed by the role of Senior Investment Manager of IDO Investments. Moreover, Talal sits on several boards, including Voltea, Locum’s Nest, iNNOVATEQ and Wakud.
