Solo Pen Hadow
Solo: The North Pole: Alone and Unsupported

Pen Hadow is a leading polar explorer and ocean conservationist, who has spent the majority of his career trekking through some of the most challenging landscapes the Earth has to offer. Having trekked solo to the North Pole and alongside fellow adventurer Simon Murray to the South Pole, Pen has experienced the extraordinary and seen the impact first hand that humans have on the planet. Now booked as a sustainability speaker, Pen advises audiences on how they can reduce their impact on the environment.

A world-class explorer, Pen is famed for being the only person to complete a solo expedition from Canada to the North Pole and for leading vessels into the Arctic Ocean with no aid of icebreakers. He was also the founder and leader of the Catlin Arctic Survey and the only British person to go to the North Pole and the South Pole from continental coasts. A true inspiration to all, many of Pen’s explorations have been motivated by his passion to promote conservation, in particular the conservation of the Arctic Ocean’s ecosystem and various wildlife species around the world.

Pen is also the Director of the Arctic Mission programme and the founder of The 90North Foundation. This organisation was founded by Pen to aid in the mission of ocean and arctic conservation, catalysing and promoting policy-making processes of the Arctic Council and the United Nations. Throughout his career, Pen has claimed several awards such as the 2009 World Technology Award – Environment, being named as the Hero of the Environment by TIME Magazine in 2009 and the 2003 Best Global Adventure Award.

Having offered his expertise of the environment as an Honorary Patron and Fellow of the British Exploring Society and as the Honorary Vice-President of the Scientific Exploration Society, Pen is now often booked as a sustainability speaker to share how individuals can change their life to benefit the planet. Having seen the devastating effects of global warming across the breadth of the geographical poles, Pen is passionate to see that the essential ecosystem of the poles is conserved. Sharing a mixture of anecdotes of high-performance in challenging environments to the importance of protecting the Earth’s ecosystems and species, Pen Hadow is a fantastic sustainability speaker determined to make a change.
