Ioannis Ioannou is a globally recognised expert in sustainability leadership and corporate responsibility. As an Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School (LBS), he has dedicated his career to exploring how organisations can integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their strategies to foster sustainable growth. Through his research and speaking engagements, Ioannus has inspired businesses to embrace transformative solutions that create long-term value and drive positive societal impact.

Ioannus’ academic journey began at Yale University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Economics and Mathematics. He went on to complete a Ph.D. in Business Economics at Harvard University, focusing on strategy and industrial organisation. Since joining London Business School in 2009, Ioannus has published extensively in leading academic journals, including Strategic Management Journal and Management Science. With over 16,000 citations, his work on corporate sustainability and greenwashing remains pivotal in shaping global business practices.

He has served as Co-Chair of Merck KGaA’s Sustainability Advisory Panel, a member of DWS Group’s ESG Advisory Board, and an expert in the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network on Sustainable Development.
