Lizzie Carr is a globally renowned environmental activist & the Founder of Planet Patrol – an award-winning non-profit organisation that is resolved to eliminate single-use materials and litter. Bestselling author of “Paddling Britain” she offers her expert advise on traversing the British coastlines in her stead as the first female to paddleboard solo across the English Channel. A cancer survivor, Lizzie’s journey to becoming one of the foremost voices in the realm of sustainability and environmental advocacy is extraordinary. Diagnosed with cancer at the age of 26, Lizzie initially turned to paddleboarding as a means to facilitate her recovery. Soon thereafter, Lizzie had completed three world firsts on a paddle board namely – First person to paddleboard the length of England’s waterways, to paddleboard the Hudson River, and across the English Channel.  This is also where she began her journey as an environmental activist. Today, Lizzie has been appointed as an MBE for her contributions to environmental work and activism – a testament to her incredible work over the years.

In 2024, Lizzie completed the Sustainable Marketing, Media & Creative course from the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, further bolstering her position as a leading sustainability expert. Over the years, Lizzie’s work has gained umpteen recognition from prominent organisations around the world. In 2020, she received the Inspiration of the Year Award by Stylist Magazine, was featured in Conde Nast Traveller’s Green List in 2021, included on Geospatial World’s Rising Star List and The ENDS Report Power list, and in 2024, she has been named Inspirational Person of the Year by Paddle UK.

A voracious voice against single use plastic and other environmentally detrimental practices, Lizzie is often called to speak on media channels such as Sky, Chennel 4, BBC Two, ITV and BBC News. She contributes articles to The Independent, and has co-authored a paper that was published in The Journal of Hazardous Materials. Lizzie has also been host of the Earth Shakers podcast and is now available to speak at events related to sustainability, the environment, and climate change.
