Katy Griffin is a passionate and inspiring speaker whose work bridges mental health, lifestyle, and the natural environment. As the founder of Thera-Sea, Katy has dedicated her career to transforming the way we approach mental health by integrating nature and education. Hired as a speaker for her unique and holistic approach, she engages audiences with her commitment to preventive strategies that prioritise long-term well-being. Her talks leave people not only informed but empowered to take steps towards personal and environmental resilience.

Katy began her career in 2008 as a mental health worker at The Priory, steadily progressing through various NHS roles across Derbyshire, Cheshire, and Cornwall. Over the years, she honed her clinical expertise as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, later becoming a Clinical Lead at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role saw her delivering high-quality mental health services in primary care, where she consistently championed the importance of education and early intervention. Her time at Falmouth University as a mental health specialist in 2017 marked a shift towards integrating education more prominently in her work.

In 2018, Katy launched Thera-Sea, an organisation built around the belief that nature, when combined with education and lifestyle change, can be a powerful catalyst for healing. Thera-Sea offers off-grid retreats, workshops and wellbeing days designed to help people reconnect with themselves and the environment. These experiences focus on getting outdoors, embracing simplicity, and letting go of the stresses of modern life. The retreat model, set in natural surroundings, provides a transformative space for attendees to learn tools for mental resilience while immersed in the healing power of the wild.

Katy is regularly hired as a speaker because she brings a refreshing, grounded perspective to discussions around sustainability and mental health. Her deep clinical background, combined with her passion for outdoor living and preventative care, makes her an authentic and credible voice. Audiences are drawn to her ability to translate complex mental health topics into practical, nature-based solutions that support both individual well-being and broader environmental awareness.
