Claire O’Neill is a renowned environmental specialist, best known for her previous position as the Cabinet Minister for Energy and Clean Growth. Having been a crucial part of the UK winning the bid to host COP26, she was later appointed COP26 President- Designate in recognition of her respected achievements. Now appearing as an Advisory Board Member for companies such as ScottishPower, Protium, and Climate Impact X, Claire is proud to share her expertise with audiences at speaking events around the world.

In 1998, Claire graduated from Harvard Business School with a master’s in business administration. Beginning her professional career as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Devizes Constituency for The Conservative Party, she gained vast amounts of industry experience working with top leaders and experts throughout the country before securing the role of Minister for Climate Change in 2017. Showcasing her passion for politics throughout this role, she later fulfilled the position of Cabinet Minister for Energy and Clean Growth. After leading the UK’s winning bid to host COP26, she was admired for her achievements and was able to become the President-Designate, UNFCCC Conference of the Parties for the UK Government in 2019.

Respected in the industry, Claire became the Managing Director at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) before taking a step back from politics. With over 10 years of industry experience, she has now decided to take part in several advisory boards to share her expertise with companies such as McKinsey & Company, and Hambro Perks. Having developed an incredibly successful career, Claire is now looking to share her valuable insights with both keen individuals and organisations within the industry.
