Dr Sally Uren OBE is a catalyst for transformational change and a passionate advocate for sustainability, known for her bold vision and practical leadership in accelerating the shift to a regenerative future. She is currently Executive Director and Chief Acceleration Officer at Forum for the Future, an international non-profit that she led as Chief Executive from 2013 to 2024. In her new role, Sally spearheads key global projects and partnerships designed to transform complex systems, particularly in food and energy, while helping businesses unlock their potential for positive impact. She has played a pivotal role in expanding Forum’s reach from its UK roots to thriving programmes in Europe, the US, India and Southeast Asia.
Throughout her career, Sally has worked on groundbreaking initiatives that influence both policy and practice. She continues to lead flagship programmes such as Growing Our Future, a collaborative effort to scale regenerative agriculture in the US, the Business Transformation Compass, a unique guide to just and regenerative business, and the Climate and Health Coalition, which drives private sector action on the human health impacts of climate change. Sally is a regular contributor to major global conferences, recently delivering keynotes and panels at Economist Impact’s Sustainability Week, Sustainable Brands in San Diego, Climate Week NYC, and Reuters Responsible Business Europe. Her work is rooted in inspiring and equipping others to deliver the systemic change that sustainability demands.
Sally’s career has also seen her offer strategic guidance to numerous global brands. She currently sits as an Advisory Board Member for Bentley Motors and EcoVadis, and is a Trustee of the Galapagos Conservation Trust. She also holds the position of Independent Non-Executive Director at Travalyst, the sustainable travel initiative founded by the Duke of Sussex. Previous board roles have included advisory positions with Kingfisher, Burberry and Kimberly-Clark, and she has also served as a judge for the Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development. Before joining Forum for the Future, she founded Casella Stranger, a sustainability consultancy that marked the beginning of her professional commitment to environmental change.
Sally’s passion for the environment took root during her university years, when she helped clear the Manchester Canal as part of a community effort, eventually earning a PhD in Environmental Science. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to sustainability in business, she was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours List. Today, as a leading voice in sustainability, Sally continues to speak at conferences across the UK and internationally, inspiring organisations and individuals alike to embed regenerative thinking into their strategies and operations.
