Nigel Topping

Nigel Topping is a leading figure in climate change and sustainability, best known as a High Level Champion for Climate Action for COP26, Nigel is also the Founder of Ambition Loop. Also a Board Member of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment, Nigel champions action against climate change and wants to halve emissions by 2030. Now booked as a sustainability speaker for corporate events, Nigel is able to discuss climate change with confidence.

Over a long and distinguished career, Nigel has forged a reputation for his passions for climate change action. Having worked in several senior positions in the environmental sector, Nigel has a wealth of experience and expertise to share. After six years as Chief Innovation Officer, Nigel became the Executive Director of CDP in 2013, the global environmental reporting system. Then, in 2015, Nigel became the CEO of WE MEAN BUSINESS, a global nonprofit working with the worlds biggest business to take action on climate change. Widely remembered for his impact on the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change, Nigel became a UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP26 in 2020.

In recent years, Nigel has continued to dedicate his time to advocating for climate change and sustainability. Nigel played a key role in supporting the UK Presidency of the 2021 UN Climate Change Conference, in which his mission was to elevate the leadership of non-state actors to support and enhance the ambition of governments to accelerate action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. An Honorary Professor in Economics at University of Exeter Business School, Nigel became a Senior Climate Advisory for FSD Africa in 2023. A Member and Business Champion for Climate Change Committee, Nigel is now the Founder of Ambition Loop, a non-profit dedicated to advancing systematic change to take sustainable action to the next level.

A champion of climate change action, Nigel is now booked as a sustainability speaker for corporate events. Having tirelessly worked to accelerate solutions to combat climate change, Nigel has delivered the impactful TED talks ‘We Need to Green the Economy While Restarting it’ and ‘How Can Businesses Save the World?’.  In 2022, Nigel was awarded the Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for his services to climate change.
